THE PHOTOGRAPHER

- Jade Ioannidis -

I'm an Australian photographer based in Tropical North Queensland, where the incredible landscapes, diverse wildlife, and vibrant communities continue to inspire my work every day.

My early career began in the music, acting and modelling industry where I spent a lot of time in front of the camera on photoshoots, on sets at the old Channel 9 studios and performing on the big stage. I studied at The William Bates Academy of Performing Arts focusing on Theatre, Dance and Voice and numerous workshops with NIDA. Some of my television appearances include Neighbours and channel 9’s STINGERS.

I went on to become a singer in my own right where I ventured into the world of Pop music and Jazz standards, spending two years in the corporate band world. I was involved primarily in original songwriting/band projects with original girl pop band Tempa from 1997-2002 and collaborated with industry Alumni James Leigh (Pseudo Echo, InVertigo) and Derek Pellici (Little River Band). My original songs with the band Tempa received national television and commercial radio airplay.

As a young girl, you would find me with camera in hand most of the time so it came as no surprise I turned to the freedom of the camera. I studied photography in Melbourne at the renowned Photography Studies College, spending several years immersed in the creative heart of the city. It was there that I developed a deep passion for street photography, dedicating countless hours to documenting the authentic moments, characters, and stories that unfold in everyday life. That passion for storytelling remains at the core of everything I create.

After venturing into the commercial photography world, I discovered that my true creative freedom came from developing my own distinctive style. Over the years, I've refined an approach that blends commercial photography with documentary storytelling - a style I describe as Commercial Photo Essay. Rather than simply capturing an image, I strive to capture the story behind it.

I'm constantly searching for the unique and the unexpected. Whether it's a fleeting expression, dramatic light, an overlooked detail, or the raw beauty of the natural world, I believe the most compelling photographs are those that evoke emotion and invite the viewer to look a little deeper.

For me, photography is more than creating beautiful images it's about preserving moments, revealing stories, and finding extraordinary beauty in the world around us. I am forever grateful for the creative journey that I’ve been on and I’m always developing new projects which include all forms of artistic expression.
